Spun

"She'll split for a day or two and then she'll come back - she's just Spun"

Spun is a 2002 independent film directed by Jonas Akerlund and features a phenomenal cast of actors - Jason Shwartzman, Brittany Murphy, Mickey Rourke, Mena Suvari & Jon Leguizamo.

To be honest, the film really doesn't have much of a plot besides following junkies through a meth-induced weekend - with plenty of sex, violence and cursing thrown in... but for whatever reason I can't get enough of it.

Perhaps it's the amazing cast of actors? Or maybe it's the intensity at which the film is approached (a lot of addicts walk-out because it's too triggering)? Maybe it's the fact that there really is no plot - but such an intense plot all kind of happening at the same time? Or maybe the fact that the killer soundtrack definitely won me over from the start - whatever the reason the film has made it onto my top personal favorites and if you have yet to see it - what the fuck are you waiting for?

Although I will say if you find drug movies to be disturbing or triggering then this would be one to avoid, but even if you don't think the film is up your alley - take a listen to the soundtrack and I guarentee you won't be disappointed (especially considering a good portion of the soundtrack was done by Billy Corgan of The Smashing Pumpkins)

One of my favorite songs from the film is a cover of "Love to Love" originally done by UFO, covered by Djali Zwan for 'Spun'...

Also, I think this film featured some of Brittany Murphy's best work - she was such an amazing actress and may she find peace wherever she is now.
